Memorial Junior High is committed to using innovative technology and research-proven strategies to provide the personalized educational experiences that will prepare our students for college, career, and a lifetime of learning.
At Memorial Junior High, we use Summit Learning to support our vision of providing quality education for every student, every day. Summit Learning is a personalized approach to teaching and learning that is based on decades of educational research. With Summit, some of the more traditional face-to-face instruction in the classroom is replaced by an online curriculum that allows students to have more control over their own learning. Teachers coach students to develop cognitive skills, complete project work, and master assessments. Students have twenty-four hour access to their work through the Summit Learning Platform. Go to SummitLearning.org and log in with your Google account.
ECAM (Exploring Curriculum Advising and Mentoring) is a mentoring and advisory class that students attend every day at lunchtime and all day on Mondays. During this time, students have a dedicated mentor who meets with them one-on-one, gets to know them personally, and supports them as they set and achieve their personal learning goals. Students practice their social emotional skills in this class and learn about the Self-Directed Learning Cycle – how to set their own goals, make plans, follow through, and reflect on their learning. If you have any questions or concerns about your student, his or her ECAM mentor is the place to start!
